30 October 2018: Draft native title reforms

The Attorney-General and the Minister for Indigenous Affairs on 30 October 2018 released exposure drafts of the Native Title Legislation Amendment Bill 2018 and Registered Native Title Bodies Corporate Legislation Amendment Regulations 2018.

The exposure drafts are informed by consultation earlier this year on an options paper for native title reform, which included recommendations from the Australian Law Reform Commission’s report on ‘Connection to Country’, the Council of Australian Government’s Investigation into Land Administration and Use, and other recent reviews. Thank you for your contribution to that consultation process.

Copies of the exposure draft legislation, along with a public consultation paper and fact sheets summarising the proposed amendments are available on at <https://www.ag.gov.au/Consultations/Pages/Exposure-draft-native-title-reforms.aspx>.

Submissions should be provided by 10 December 2018, and can be sent by email to <native.title@ag.gov.au> or in hard copy to:

Native Title Unit

Attorney-General’s Department

3-5 National Circuit

BARTON ACT 2600
