Release of Department of Planning and Environment’s draft Community Participation Plan

The Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act) has been updated to make community participation central to the planning system. Supporting this objective is a new measure requiring all public authorities that have planning functions under the EP&A Act, including councils, to develop a community participation plan (CPP) by the end of 2019.

I am excited to share with you the Department’s draft CPP. You can find out more on our CPP webpage.

Our CPP consolidates into one simple document how and when the community can participate in the planning functions the Department undertakes. It will make it clearer for the community to have their say on planning assessments, plan-making, policies or changes to regulatory frameworks.

We seek your submission on our draft CPP in particular, whether it makes our role clearer and helps you to understand how you can participate in our planning functions.

Our draft CPP is now on exhibition and submissions will be accepted until Thursday 6 December 2018.
