Planning and remediation or remediation and planning: Is my project a major project?

With the ever increasing population density of NSW, many well positioned industrial sites are becoming attractive for residential redevelopment but who wants to live on a contaminated site? The increased attractiveness is bringing together the planning and remediation industries together as never before. A common gripe from both is that they don’t work quickly enough, or don’t talk to us early enough. Utopia I hear you say. Add into this mix recent changes to planning laws such as integrated development, Part 3A permits and chaos can ensue.
So what can the remediation and planning industries learn from each other. Industry leaders in remediation, planning and development will share their experiences helping to answer such questions as…
• How do planning laws and regulation affect remediation projects?
• How does remediation affect town planning and planning for development?
• How would the planning system be improved with respect to remediation?
• Is my remediation project a “major project”?
• Who are the planning authorities I need to consider?
• What are the planning roadblocks to my remediation project?
• What to consider re planning and remediation?
