Did Lachlan Macquarie really have a grand vision for Sydney? He appointed the first government architect and oversaw the construction of 271 miles of road and more than 200 structures. In this talk, historian Dr James Broadbent and government architect Peter Mould will discuss Macquarie’s legacy.
A Macquarie 2010 event presented in conjunction with the History Council of New South Wales. Macquarie 2010 marks the bicentenary of the beginning of Lachlan Macquarie’s 12-year tenure as the fifth governor of the colony of New South Wales.
